What? yep… streaming binaural audio through the 3G network from a raspberry Pi – make that a portable raspberry Pi!
Am I being serious? yes, very. I am hoping to get a USB sound-card that works with the Pi so that I have a stereo input for the binaural microphone, tests just now let me use the Pi in portable mode for over two and a half hours, using two small batteries intended for charging/using an iPad/iPhone – 5v output = perfect power supply for the Pi, and powered USB hub for the 3G dongle.
Using Icecast2, and darkice on raspian. I can stream from the Pi, then from a PC (anywhere) listen to the stream, and, by using the winamp plug-in to stream to an on-line major server, relay it over as if it was a stream from the PC. First tests no dropouts were noticed in the saved recorded file, which was two hours in duration. I could have been almost anywhere with the Pi and streamed it……. think about it..
More to follow!!!
